Happy Half Birthday!!!

I am so surprised at how quickly time has passed.  My little girl is now 6 months old and I can't believe it.  She has been accomplishing quite a bit in the 6 months she has been in our family.  She is almost sitting without assistance. She rolls over all the time when laying down.  She is trying really hard to crawl.  She has been eating one solid a day and has tried so many different fruits and vegetables.  She has been giggly, smiley, and happy overall.  She is a lot of fun and her face lights up when her brother play with and pay attention to her.  It is so sweet to see all the love the kids have for each other.  So thankful...  My girl still is not sleeping through the night but I think this is partly my fault since we co sleep.  I am planning to transition her into a crib in the next couple of months. I am both looking forward to this change and a little sad about it too.  She is my last baby so many of the milestones are a little bittersweet.

Regal Summer Movies 2016

One of our many favorite activities over the summer is taking advantage of the summer $1 movies at Regal Cinemas.  We have a Regal right by our house and it is a great way to have a kiddo friendly experience.  $1 movies are also great practice to get used to going to a movie in a movie theater.  Also if something comes up, you are only out a $1 per person.   This year there are a lot of great kid movies on the list.  There are always 2 choices per day with a few theaters available which is nice.    Check for your local theater to find out the start date and the movie starts at 10 am.  http://www.regmovies.com/movies/summer-movie-express

Week 1 The Lego Movie & Max
Week 2 Goosebumps & The Iron Giant: Signature Edition
Week 3 Pan & The Smurfs 2
Week 4 Despicable Me 2 & Home
Week 5 Minions & The Peanuts Movie
Week 6 Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip & Curious George
Week 7 The Book of Life & Hotel Transylvania 2
Week 8 Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 & Shaun the Sheep

Kabrita

As a family that deals with allergies, we are always looking for an alternative substitute to your standard allergy foods.  What do you do if you are allergic to cow's milk for a substitute?  Kabrita has come out with some solutions for your kids with goat milk.  I know what you are thinking...goat milk???  But after doing some research I found out that goat's milk is actually healthier than cow's milk and a wonderful calcium filled milk.  My 3 year old tried the pouches and really liked the banana and vanilla variety. Also if you have stomach issues goat milk is so much more gentler for digestion.   Kabrita is sold at Whole Foods http://www.kabritausa.com  So if you are dealing with dairy sensitivities this is a good substitute to try with your child.

Going from 2 to 3 Kids

I always feel so guilty when I add a new kid to the mix.  I am worried how the youngest will handle it.  When I went from one child to two I felt so badly that I was consumed with the care my newborn required.  Plus my 2nd child was colicky and very hard to appease so I concerned that my oldest would feel neglected or that Mommy didn't  have time for him.  He did occasionally feel like this and it took some adjustment but after realizing that I needed to carve out special one on one time with him things got better.

My 2nd child in October went from the youngest to the middle child with the addition of our 3rd and final child a little girl.  My boy was used to getting lots of hugs and cuddles throughout the pregnancy.  I was so sick with my baby girl's pregnancy I couldn't do anything else.  Then when I went to the hospital to give birth we were there 5 days.  This did not help with his new big brother status.  When I arrived home he was so angry at me for being away so long and was not crazy about the little baby girl I brought home.

Over time, he has started to accept having a little sister especially when she started to react to him with smiles, giggles, and noises.  Fortunately, when I go out with all 3 kids by myself my oldest takes care of his little brother and watches out for him.  Now sometimes they wind up amping each other up when we are out together but overall it goes ok.

We have found a rhythm now and things are going pretty good.  Since mommy is busier it teaches the older kids to be more independent which is a really great thing.

Forever My Little Boy Book Review

As a mama of 2 boys, I was immediately intrigued by the title of this book.  The bond and love that I feel for my boys is amazing.  This book spoke perfectly about the love a mom and dad have for their boy.  The book basically takes you through some milestones throughout your child's life.  I felt a little sad thinking about how fast the time goes.  Each part of the boy in the book's life there is a poem accompanying it.  Then it is followed by a prayer and a bible verse pertaining to that milestone or event.  As I read the book, it felt like a coping books for moms /dads when dealing with these moments in life.  This book would be a great gift to a grown up boy starting a family or to new parents of a boy.  If you are interested in purchasing this book http://www.amazon.com/Forever-Little-Boy-Karen-Kingsbury/dp/0310354242?ie=UTF8&keywords=forever%20my%20little%20boy&qid=1459952640&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

Brevard Zoo

We had the chance over Spring Break to check out the Brevard Zoo.  It was my first time at the zoo and most of my kids as well.  Upon entering the zoo, there was a hands on crafting station for the kids to make a plaster mold.  I am not sure if this is a normal occurrence at the zoo but the kids really enjoyed it.  My 3 year old made a turtle and my 7 year old made an animal track.  They were ready to pick up a hour later.  To the left on the entrance,  there was an interactive animal area which they rotated different types of animals.  We followed the path into the Africa area which had so many different kinds of animals.  Including a giraffe that you can feed.  My boys were not into interacting with any of the animals so I was the elected member to feed the giraffe.  I have never fed a giraffe before and it was actually a pretty cool experience.  After the Africa area they have kayaking available I thought that was really unique.  I have never been to a zoo that you could kayak in.  The next area was Australia which had tons of animals including the bird area that you could feed the birds as well.
We enjoyed the train ride which was the next area in the zoo.  It was a short 5 minute ride but the kids had a good time on it.  For lunch we ate at the Flamingo cafe and I was pretty pleasantly surprised with the food.  I got a veggie burger at the cafe and it says a lot to me on the quality of food at a restaurant that does veggie burgers and it was actually really good.  The next area is Wild Florida which we skipped in favor of heading to the kids area.  The kids area has a play area, water area (bring your swimsuit), and a petting zoo.
The kids had a great time in the water.  While we were there they had to evacuate the area when a snake was found in the bushes.  The kids were freaking out.  But they promptly removed it from the area and the kids were back to playing.

We had a great time at the Brevard Zoo, I think it is the best zoo in the Central Florida area.  If you have the opportunity to check it out it is worth the trip.  https://brevardzoo.org
