Our Spring Break

I am so happy to have my oldest home this week.  His younger brother and I miss him when he is at school.  My boy was looking forward to playing and sleeping in.

On Monday we had a lounge around the house day because we have some big plans this spring break.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after a playdate Tuesday morning where both of my boys had loads of fun.  We went camping at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground.  The great outdoors, lots of free space, and outside tent camping.  Both of my boys loved their time in the wilderness.  It was definitely quite the experience with both boys and I sleeping on a blow up mattress.  Lets just say I didn't get much sleep that 1st night.  Both the boys were wiggling fools.  The 2nd night we were all too exhausted after a full day of activities to not get any sleep.  Thursday morning we headed home...oh home sweet home.  If nothing else our camping trip helped us to appreciate our comfortable beds and home with all of the accommodations.

Friday is a relax day....we definitely need it.  Ok, ok I need it :)

Day Out with Thomas

I will start by saying it was a HOT day.  As we were going into the event I saw several little ones leaving with a full red face and looking exhausted.  This event is definitely a rite of passage if you have a little fan of Thomas the train.  When you book your experience you are mainly picking a time to ride Thomas' coaches.  Everything else at the event can be done at your own pace.  There were countless fair style food stands with almost everything fair related you could ask for.  There was a story time area, imagination area (play area), meet with Sir Topham Hatt, and Gift Shop.  There was also a mini train to ride and countless activities to do. The Thomas ride itself was just about 20 minutes and it was actually a good amount of time especially for my 2 year old who was ready to get off at that point.  The trickiest part of the day was seeing Thomas and taking a photo with him.  They had an area set up with photographers that in between rides you could take a photo.  The only downfall with this is when Thomas has to leave the photos are over.  Lots of upset and crying kids.  We had to catch him after his last run of the day.  Overall it was a great experience for my boys and it is something that your train lover will never forget.

My Son's 2nd Kids Marathon

Saturday my 6 year old participated in the Smile Mile at the Orlando Fashion Square Mall.  First of all, this event was really organized and there was lots of things for little ones to do.  They had different times for each age group/gender.   My boy ran in the 6 years boy race.  I had my 2 year old in a stroller for the duration of the race.  I knew this would be the only way to see my boy run and make sure my youngest stayed with me and was safe.  Now my boy has run a mile before but not in a marathon setting so it was a mixed bag how he would do.  The first runner crossed the finish line at 8 minutes and they had trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.  Every child got a medal for participating which I think is one of the main appeals for my boy.  There was a corner with the finish line straight on after that.  So I desperately watched the corner for my boy.  I was really worried if he would give up  or make it to the end.  At 13 minutes there was my boy coming around the corner I was so proud of him.  He was smiling and waving and of course I was yelling like a crazy person.  It was a little confusing at the finish line claiming your child but overall it went well.  Another marathon down on to the next.  I think I might have a runner for life.

Suja Essentials

I will start by saying I am not a big juice drinking my go to and only drink is water.  I am pretty predicable and some might say boring in that way.  Occasionally I do drink a juice drink but I am generally dissatisfied because I don't like sugary things.  I received an opportunity to try an organic, non gmo and cold pressured fruit drink.  The ones that were available at my local Super Target were Mango Magic, Berry Nana, Sweet Beets, Berry Goodness, Mighty Greens, and Green Delight.  I chose the Berry Goodness.  Surprisingly,  I drank the entire bottle!!!  The texture was very unexpected most fruit juices have varying sizes of chunks of fruit so you are certain there is fruit in the bottle and sweet beyond sweet.  Pleasantly, this drink had a consistent and smooth texture which made it really easy to drink.  It also was not overly sweet and tasted fresh and natural.

If you have the opportunity try one of the varieties of Suja Essentials they are really great and I felt very energetic after my drink and I didn't crash later.

***This opportunity to try Suja Essentials was provided by Bzz Agent and I was provided the product free of charge for compensation.  Even though the product was free my opinions and review is completely my own.

Stuffed Peppers

I have been feeling pretty experimental in the kitchen lately.  Today I decided to make some healthy stuffed peppers.

Ingredients
-4 green peppers
-1 package of ground chicken
-1/2 red onion
-brown rice about 11/2 cups
-1 large can of diced tomatoes
-1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic

Preheat oven to 350
Make your rice according to package directions.  Meanwhile brown ground chicken, add onions and garlic.  Then add diced tomatoes and stir together.
Prepare your green peppers by cutting around the stem and cleaning out the inside of the peppers.
Add rice to your meat mixture and stir then use a spoon to add the mixture to the peppers.
Put them in the oven after filling is added for 45 minutes.
Enjoy!!!

Momma Don't You Worry Book Review

When I was a little girl I would often get distracted and wonder off from my mom.  It actually happened quite often and every time I was hysterical.  I think that when it happens it can be so scary-for mom and child.  Momma Don't You Worry by Louie Lawent is a great book that deals with little ones and getting lost.  It is a clever book filled with a rhyming scheme that addresses being lost as a distracted child and teaches your child what to do if they find themselves in this situation.  It is a short book but handles the subject matter in a smart and easy assessable way speaking right to your child.

Motivate Your Child Book Review

Everyone has challenges with their children that sometimes can be frustrating.  We all have methods that we use to encourage our children to do the right thing.  I got the opportunity to read a book that gives suggestions and ideas to Motivate Your Child.  This book was filled with situations and maybe even things you personally encounter with your child.  Along with a solution and the right questions to ask or proper way to guide your child.  One of the many topics in this book were about building a conscious in your child.   I have always felt that if something isn't truly experienced or is forced upon someone it isn't lasting. Your child has to know that this action is either the right or wrong thing to do and feel compelled to correct it. This was one of the points in this informative book and if you are looking for guidance with your child this is an excellent, easy to understand, and encouraging tool.  I actually put one of the principles immediately to use with my 6 year old.  Whenever we are ready to go somewhere I tell my son to "Please put on his shoes we are going to go."  Then I go about finishing up my tasks to head out the door and I come back and he still hasn't put on his shoes so I ask him to do it again.  I continue my final tasks and return to him frustrated that he hasn't followed my instructions and the shoes are not on.  In the book they suggest to give a 5 minute warning and after asking your child to put on their shoes don't walk away make sure they make actions to put on the shoes.  If nothing happens, then you go to your child and explain that you need them to obey.  In my situation it didn't go beyond that.  Another thing my boy has issues with is taking responsibility for his actions instead of getting upset or blaming others.  This topic is covered in this book as well.  This book can be easily applied to younger kids by helping you build a foundation and even teenagers and older children.

This book is written by Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN and they are founders of the National Center for Biblical Parenting and Biblical Parenting University.  If you are interested in further information visit biblicalparenting.org
