First Loose Tooth

My boy has been really anxious and excited to lose his first tooth.  A lot of the kids in his class already lost their first tooth and he was feeling a little left out.  We had a dentist appointment this past week and neither of us realized that he had a loose tooth.  My boy was so excited.  Now it is a few days later and the tooth is really loose.  The anxiety of loosing a tooth has set in.  He is worried he is going to swallow the tooth and he is worried about the blood.  It is super wiggly too so I think it is getting a little annoying.  He keeps asking me to check to see if it is still in.  Has this been a traumatic experience for your child(ten)?  I am sure it is a scary prospect for a lot of children.  It is also a reminder that my boy is most definitely growing up (whether I like it or not).

Bathtime

My youngest boy has become not too fond of bath time.  I think his least favorite part is the hair washing part.  Even my oldest was not a fan of that.  I have tried all of the contraptions to keep the water out of their eyes and they are too wiggly for it to be effective.  I also learned something new about baby shampoo.  I always thought that tear free meant it was safe for their eyes but this isn't true they are referring to the hair itself.  Crazy huh?  Once hair washing time is over though you would have thought they loved taking a bath-I am sure the bath toys help.  It is hard getting them out of the tub.  I think bath toys were made for this very reason.  It is a distraction tactic so your child forgets the trauma of bath time whatever they are afraid of.  Sounds great except kids have an excellent memory.    Do you have any tips that make bath time more fun especially the hair washing part?

Swim Lessons

Our first foray into swim lessons was a ymca group lesson which consisted of my boy getting a total of 5 minutes of swimming within an hour of lesson and most of the instructors time was telling the children to sit on the step until it was there turn.  As you can probably access my boy did not learn to swim.  Our second try at swim lessons was having an instructor come out the house.  My boy at the time was deathly afraid of water and screamed most of the lesson.  The main problem with this batch of  lessons is the instructor was not consistent with the lessons and was constantly canceling the lessons.  Which my boy interpreted as hoping that the swim instructor didn't show up.  Once again he learned nothing.  Last summer we finally found the lessons that worked that is a great instructor through swim america that taught my boy how to swim. What was great about her is she didn't accept any of his excuses or negotiation tactics and by the end of the 2 weeks was doing pretty well.  I realized that my boy needed another group of lessons from her this summer and to my surprise he was so excited to go.  He did great and hopefully after these 2 weeks I will have an expert swimmer.  I am so excited for him to feel confident in swimming.

Busy Week

I definitely put plenty of things on the calendar for my boy to do this summer.  What I failed to realize is how tiring these things were going to be pregnant.  We just have VBS this past week and the driving there and back was exhausting.  Then crazy me wanted to go to Disney Hollywood Studios today which actually wasn't too bad. It is so hot out but overall it fun.   But I am so tired!!!!  Fortunately the next 2 weeks are much more low key.  But surprising this summer is going really quickly in my opinion.  I can't believe June is almost over.

Advanced Gestational Age

In the pregnancy world, you are no longer a spring chicken after 35.  Since I am 37 and pregnant, I am referred to as someone with advanced gestational age.  To me to this screams old lady but I am trying to find the humor in it.  Once you are advanced gestational age you have to go to a high risk doctor so not only do you go to all the regular appointments now you have an extra appointment to make.  I have an appointment at each this week.  Every time I have an appointment I have some anxiety so this poor baby girl is going to be a bit stressed out this week.  I try really hard to not get stressed out but to no avail it happens anyways.  I've tried relaxation breathing, yoga, and pretty much anything I can think of to mellow out.

I want to share with you the photo of my little girl Chloe who is doing excellent.  Despite my stressing her out!!!

I am so excited that they don't want to see me again for another 3 months.  Big sigh of relief.

Lazy Days of Summer

We have been keeping pretty busy this summer.  I have the schedule pretty planned out for my oldest.  He needs the excitement of the stimulation.  The one thing we have been really lax on is bedtime.  We have had some later than normal nights so bedtime has been pretty late.  It is going to make it challenging for the camps my oldest has scheduled bright and early.  I don't know about anyone else but it has been so hot and if I can avoid the outside I do.

Today my boy did a painting class at Yes You Canvas.  They do kids paint classes very similar to the adult paint nights that are really popular right now.  They have cute cartoony paintings that are geared for children and they go step by step for each part of the painting.  It is really amazing how close the finished product is to the original.  If you are looking for a fun activity to do over the summer this is well worth it.  It was only $12 for an hour class and the kids are all so proud of their creations.

Xclear Review

I recently got a few products to try from a line put out from Xclear.  All of Xclear's products are made with Xylitol.  On a basic search of the internet Xylitol is considered a safe substitute sweetener.

Spry Mints

Peppermint Gum

Oral Rinse

Toothpaste

Nasal Spray

Nasal Spray Saline Bottles

From my initial research of this product it seemed like a great new product.  Now I want to share with you my family's experience with some of the product line.  This review is not going to be exactly pc so be forewarned.  As I have shared on the blog just recently I am currently pregnant so I am cautious with new products so this is the experience my husband had with this product.  I will start off by saying that my husband has a sensitive stomach.  My husband was excited to try to Spry Gems mints which he said had a good taste to them.  Then a little later he had a pretty extreme reaction to the mints...(Stop reading now if you are easily offended or grossed out) He had extreme diarrhea.  Which lasted for quite some time and an upset stomach for the remainder of the evening.  When this occurred he went online and looked up xylitol and diarrhea and it was shocking what he found out.  One of the side effects of xylitol is diarrhea.  Needless to say our experiments with these products stopped.  I personally have not tried any more of the products.  This product reminds me of a product they introduced into food when I was younger called Olean it was a fat free oil used in potato chips and other snack foods. It was definitely very popular at one point, eventually on potato chips bags they had to include a warning that it may cause anal leakage.  So if you are having bathroom issues this might solve the problem for you.  I want to give you as always my honest experiences with products and my family.  So this is a try at your own risk kind of product.

Girls Clothing

The first time I walked into a store to buy some clothes for my newly found out girl, I was really overwhelmed.  Boys, what I am used to, are easy to purchase for.  Not a lot of options.  Girls on the other hand there are so many choices for clothes.  I found out about 2 weeks ago and I am finally comfortable with shopping.  I am starting to amass quite the collection.  There are so many cute brands that I have found out about and I am just scratching the surface.  So I thought I would share my list of cute clothing brands.

1.  Matilda Jane

2.  Persnickety

3.  Mustard Pie

4.  Livie and Luca shoes

5.  Well Dressed Wolf

6.  Cheeky Plum

7.  Sweet Honey Clothing
All I can say is girls are expensive and none of these brands are a great deal but they are so cute.  I am trying to have self control.  We will see how long I can hold out.

The Official Beginning of Summer

Our summer vacation started yesterday June 4th.  Oh how nice it is to not be ruled by an alarm.  I have planned a lot of activities for my boy throughout the summer vacation but right now I am enjoying some much needed down time.  Not to mention that being pregnant makes it hard for me to motivate myself to do too much.  I thought that today I would take my boys to Sea World and I finally settled for a splash pad and lunch out...baby steps.  So happy for the time off but the summer heat is killing me.  Everytime I am pregnant there is a big of chunk of time in the summer where I am heating up like a sauna.  Hopefully you have lots of fun plans on your summer vacation and that your kiddos don't drive you crazy.  Day #2 so far so good :)

Mommy Con

I have to say this is one of the best shows I have attended for moms.  They were very accommodating to moms who brought their little ones and had lots of play areas throughout the event.  The goody bag that was given to every attendee was actually really awesome and had a lot of useful baby items in it. There was a baby carrier area that you try out different brands and see which one you liked best.  There were countless vendors around the event.  There was guest speakers through the day in addition.  At the end of the day they had giveaway drawings with multiple items available to win.  Overall this was a well thought out and laid out event I never felt like any area was too crowded and there were a lot of mommies who attended.  I would definitely recommend this as a don't miss event if you have are pregnant or have a young child.
