Registering for Preschool

I am in a state of shock and a bit of worry after registering my 3 year old for preschool.  My state of worry stems from the fact that he will be one of the younger kids in his class and I hope he will be ready.  After having a challenging time with speech he has been speaking pretty consistently now.  There are some pronunciation issues that still exist so I am hopeful that by the time the school year arrives he will be ready. He just seems so young to start school but I know it will be good for him.  I had an extra year with his older brother which was really nice by the time school started I feel really confident that he was ready for school.   I know socially my 3 year old is ready, he really enjoys playing with other kids.  It will be really odd for the 2016-2017 school year having both of my boys in school.  I guess this is one of the times where this mama bear needs to be open to the new experience and not spend so much time being concerned about it.  Easier said then done.  I am a work in progress.

4 Months

Another month has passed and I can barely believe it.  My 4 month old loves flipping onto her tummy until she tries to move and gets frustrated.  She has been waking up and flipping over and then getting upset in the middle of the night which makes the evenings challenging to say the least.  She has been smiling a lot and at other people.  She has been squealing a lot!!!!  She can hold her head up pretty steady.  She really wants to be able to be a part and see everything so she has been doing a lot of lap sitting.  I love the interactions between her and her big brothers.  She loves hearing them talk and she responds with lots of smiles.  When I put her on the activity mat she doesn't stay there long.  She rocks and moves herself on the other side of the room.  Who needs to crawl?  Apparently not my girl.

My Favorite Parks for Nursing

Sea World has an excellent nursing and baby care area.  There is an entire room with just changing tables.  The nursing room has rocking chairs that are comfortable and you are able to rest in the air conditioning.  There is also some toys in the main area for older siblings.  2 private bathrooms are in the building as well with little kid sized potties.
The baby care building is located in the kid's area right across from the Shamu stadium.

Another baby care area that was really unexpected but great was at Aquatica.  They have their nursing room right next to the kids area.  It is a small nursing room but it was perfect for a water park.

Disney World also has a good nursing room.  The few times I used it though it was packed  It was a lightly lit room with rocking chairs and lots of nursing mamas.  To tell you the honest truth when I go to Disney I don't personally use it.  I normally just sit down and nurse with a coverup.  Especially since there is only one nursing area and it is located on Main Street.  It is far too inconvenient in the park to find your way back to the nursing room every time you need it.
It is great to always have a comfortable air conditioned stop for you and your little one.

Big Boy Pants

It has finally happened my 3 year old is finally wearing underwear and so far it is going well.  He has been hovering around being fully potty trained for quite some time.  Oddly enough poo was never an issue but peeing has been the challenge. I think a lot of it was being distracted with playing and not taking the time to stop.  I think wearing the underwear was what has finally made it come together.  Boys are so hard to potty train.  My oldest has taken the longest thus far.  He wasn't fully potty trained till he was 4.  I guess I don't have any room to talk.  I was very stubborn and didn't potty train till I was 4 years old either.  As my mom would say I am getting my payback.  One thing I have learned is no matter how much you want them to be potty trained it doesn't matter.  Your kiddo is not going to be potty trained until they are ready. Like most things it is on your child's schedule.

The Land Before Time

After finding the latest installment of The Land Before Time: Journey of the Brave, my 3 year old has been in love.  He just continuously wants to watch the movie over and over again.  So when I found out that Sprout was showing all The Land Before Time movies I-XIII, I set the dvr to record them all.  I am hoping to have lots of choices to watch instead of the one playing on a constant loop.  I remember when I was in babysitting age these movies were popular with all the little boys.    I am just excited to have some variety in what he likes.  For the longest time he only wanted to watch and play with trains.  It is so amazing to watch him grow and develop.  Since he has been verbalizing more the world has really opened up to him.

Way Better Snacks

Filled with whole grains and seeds the Way Better Snacks Tortilla Chips are a healthier choice.  Normally when things are made healthier they tend to be just barely reaching the unhealthy stuff in terms of taste.  I had the opportunity to try the Sweet Chili flavor and it was excellent.  I will start by saying I am a big fan of spice and these chips did not disappoint.  I liked these chips so much I have been trying to find them at the stores.  So far I have only come across the Sweet Potato variety at both Publix and Target but hopefully they will be expanding their choices in these stores soon.
If you get the opportunity to try these I would definitely recommend them.  If you are interested in finding out more you can go to http://gowaybetter.com

Breastfeeding To Cover or Not To Cover

I am a breastfeeding mama.  I breastfed my oldest for a year and a half, my middle child for a year, and I am currently breastfeeding my little 3 month old baby girl.  Fortunately, I never had any issues with breastfeeding all of my kiddos latched on from the beginning.  This was the only thing about breastfeeding that came easily in the beginning.  It takes a lot of hard work and perseverance to continue breastfeeding especially with a cluster feeding cranky baby.  The temptation to stop breastfeeding is very hard to resist but if you stick with it, I think it is more convenient in the long run.

Now I personally am pretty modest and I don't feel comfortable nursing without a cover. Initially it takes a moment to adjust the cover properly but once I do my babies do fine.  If I want to nurse without a cover I just do it in the car.  But if you are okay with it there is no reason you shouldn't just whip out your boobs and let your baby go to town.  I don't understand why people are so bothered by a mother feeding her child without a cover.  I have never had anyone say anything negatively about nursing.  I try not to let what others think bother me too much anyways.  There is a video surfacing on social media with a woman breastfeeding and multiple people come up to her and tell her how disgusting it is.  If you have experienced any negativity related to nursing please share your story.
